Where it all began

Mafikizolo is an award-winning South African music duo. With a career spanning more than 20 years, selling in excess of 1 million units in that time, the group turned humble beginnings and a love for song into one of the most formative sounds on the African content. Widely regarded as one of the greatest groups in South African music history, members Nhlanhla Nene and Theo Kgosinkwe have remained a mainstay in a fast moving industry due to an ever-evolving sound that continues to capture a new young audience, while retaining the fans who’ve loved them since day one.

From ‘Lotto’, the group’s first hit record way back in 1997, to 2007’s Ndihamba Nawe, a juggernaut of a single that still gets heavy rotation to 2017’s Love Potion and all else in between, Mafikizolo has continued to release records that shape South Africa’s sound and popular culture.

Shaping African Music

Mafikizolo’s crown achievement, perhaps, is in being at the forefront of the renaissance of a united African music scene, where collaboration between artists across the continent has led to an incredible cross-pollination of sounds and shared growth for many markets and artists. Superstars like Nigeria’s Davido and Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah are just two of a wide range.
With the release of their album 20, the group bookmarked the first phase of an illustrious career, with ambitions to turn it up an extra level for the next 20.
